Vodafone is one of the world's largest mobile-network operators, with operations across the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, India (Vi), Australia (now TPG), and many other markets. Each Vodafone subsidiary publishes its own unlock policy under local regulation.
UK Vodafone (post-Ofcom 2021)
Since December 2021, UK carriers including Vodafone UK must sell new phones either unlocked from purchase or unlock them free on request. Devices sold by Vodafone UK after that date are factory-unlocked. Older locked Vodafone UK devices can be unlocked free through Vodafone's online request — provided the device is fully paid for and has not been reported lost or stolen.
Vodafone Germany, Italy, Spain
European Vodafone subsidiaries also operate under EU consumer-rights frameworks that obligate the carrier to provide an unlock at no charge after a minimum contract or payment period.
