An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit identifier assigned to every mobile device on a GSM network. No two devices share the same IMEI.
IMEIs are created by manufacturers and registered with the GSMA, linking the hardware to a global registry that makes it possible to track, block or verify any device anywhere.
Beyond identification, the IMEI unlocks warranty status, carrier lock detail, blacklist status, purchase country, activation date and full model specifications.

What is a TAC code
The Type Allocation Code is the first 8 digits of every IMEI. Allocated by the GSMA, it uniquely identifies the make and model — every storage, colour or region variant typically gets its own TAC.
DeviceDecoded cross-references your IMEI's TAC against one of the largest TAC databases available to identify the model and retrieve specifications instantly.
