About Find Device

What is Xiaomi Find Device?

Xiaomi Find Device (formerly Mi Cloud Find) is Xiaomi's anti-theft and device tracking feature, similar to Apple's Find My iPhone. When enabled, it ties the device to a Mi Account and activates an activation lock that prevents others from using the device after a factory reset.

Just like iCloud lock on Apple devices, a Xiaomi device with an active Find Device lock cannot be set up or used without the original Mi Account credentials. This makes checking lock status essential when buying second-hand Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco phones.

Supported Brands

Xiaomi
Redmi
Poco
Black Shark

Buyer's tip: Always ask the seller to sign out of their Mi Account and disable Find Device before purchasing. A locked Xiaomi device cannot be used without the original account.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I buy a Mi Account locked phone?
You will not be able to set up or use the device. After factory reset, it will ask for the previous owner's Mi Account credentials. The only legitimate way to remove the lock is for the original owner to sign out remotely via i.mi.com.
Does this check work for Redmi and Poco phones?
Yes. Redmi and Poco are sub-brands of Xiaomi and use the same Mi Account system and Find Device feature. Our check works for all Xiaomi ecosystem devices.
Can Xiaomi Find Device lock be removed?
Only by the original owner signing out of their Mi Account, or by contacting Xiaomi support with valid proof of purchase. Factory reset does not remove the activation lock.
