What is Xiaomi Find Device?

Xiaomi Find Device (formerly Mi Cloud Find) is Xiaomi's anti-theft and device tracking feature, similar to Apple's Find My iPhone. When enabled, it ties the device to a Mi Account and activates an activation lock that prevents others from using the device after a factory reset.

Just like iCloud lock on Apple devices, a Xiaomi device with an active Find Device lock cannot be set up or used without the original Mi Account credentials. This makes checking lock status essential when buying second-hand Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco phones.

What happens if I buy a Mi Account locked phone?
You will not be able to set up or use the device. After factory reset, it will ask for the previous owner's Mi Account credentials. The only legitimate way to remove the lock is for the original owner to sign out remotely via i.mi.com.

Can Xiaomi Find Device lock be removed?
